Corsham Primary Eco-Councillors Keep Corsham Tidy!

Corsham Primary’s Eco-Councillors have always been working hard to make sure our school and grounds are as tidy and eco-friendly as possible. Some of the children had noticed the amount of litter in our local area and wanted to do something to have a positive impact on the environment and inspire others to do the same. Therefore, as part of ‘The Great British Spring Clean’ that runs from 22nd March to 23rd April, our Eco- Councillors held a litter picking event at the Springfield Campus in Corsham on Tuesday 26th March. This supported the #KeepBritainTidy campaign and our School Council’s work on promoting Children’s Rights within school, which are underpinned by the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
Their fantastic efforts highlighted the Children’s Right that ‘Education should help you learn to protect the environment’ (Article 29) and demonstrated this very article in action. We also joined forces with other schools within Pickwick Academy Trust to litter pick in their local areas.

We were very fortunate to have a bright sunny afternoon for our Eco-Councillors to wage war on litter and the environment looked a much more inviting place to be after their splendid efforts! Well done Eco-Council!
