Dyslexic Friendly Award at Winterslow

Winterslow CE Primary School has been awarded the Dyslexic Friendly Schools accreditation mark.  The award goes to educators that can demonstrate they provide high quality education and practice for dyslexic individuals.

The assessors found a 'strong sense of community and ethos' across the school with a 'foundation of trust and nurturing relationships.'  The Inclusion Manager, Kirsten Groth, was praised for her dedication and hard work in empowering the whole school community.  The school has 'embedded the message about the positive attitudes of those with dyslexia including being creative thinkers and problem solvers.'  This has helped 'pupils feel empowered and see dyslexia through a positive lens.'

'Adults working with children demonstrate skilled adaptive teaching and the use of assistive tech forms part of quality first teaching.  Interaction between adults and children reflect high expectations, and the patience, support and scaffolding staff provide enables pupils to feel valued and the best they can be.'
